In times of crisis, access to healthcare becomes more critical than ever. Last week, devastating floods swept through various counties in Central Texas, leaving many families in urgent need of assistance. We are incredibly proud to highlight the swift and compassionate response of our provider partners at South Texas Family Planning and Health Corporation, who deployed one of their mobile health units to Kerrville, Texas, bringing essential care directly to those affected.

This is what community-centered healthcare looks like– meeting people where they are, especially in moments of greatest need and uncertainty. Mobile clinics like the one sent to Kerrville offer not only critical medical services but also hope, comfort, and dignity to those navigating unimaginable hardship.

Our team had the privilege of visiting South Texas Family Planning’s mobile unit last year. We witnessed firsthand the dedication of their staff and the life-changing impact of bringing healthcare directly to communities that might otherwise face barriers to care. You can read more about our visit here.

Moments like these remind us of the importance of our shared mission: to ensure every Texan woman has access to quality healthcare, no matter where they live or what challenges arise. Expanding mobile health access has been a key part of our advocacy efforts. During the 88th Legislative Session, we successfully advocated for a $10 million state budget dedicated to supporting mobile health units (MHUs). This year’s 89th Legislative Session, funding for Women’s Health Programs increased to $20 million from the General Revenue Fund, ensuring the maintenance of existing MHUs and the development of new units, prioritizing rural and underserved areas of Texas.

We are honored to stand alongside healthcare heroes like South Texas Family Planning, who go above and beyond every day to serve Texans with compassion and commitment. Their work underscores the importance of continuing to support funding and policies that make initiatives like these possible across our state.

Thank you to everyone who made this work a reality. Together, we can continue to advance access to care, no matter the circumstances.
