Member Testimonial: Colleen Bridger, MPH, PhD
By TWHC Staff

TWHC seeks to increase funding for and access to healthcare services for all Texas women. Our members include diverse organizations who share our commitment to this mission. This month, we caught up with Colleen Bridger, MPH, PhD, director of the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District, to ask her why SAMHD finds value in membership.
“After the devastating cuts in 2011, the Texas Women’s Healthcare Coalition was instrumental in restoring funding for state programs that give low-income women access to preventative care and birth control. Intended pregnancies are less likely to end in maternal or child deaths, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ranks family planning among the 10 Great Public Health Achievements of the last century. Because reproductive health is public health, the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District is a proud member of TWHC.”
